Your area of the UK will have a local prescribing policy which will affect how much gluten free staple food you are able to receive on prescription and how you access it.
Right from recognising the common symptoms of coeliac disease and getting medical care, to understanding more about it and ordering your first yummy gluten free range, we’re with you from the start of your free from journey. If you suspect you are suffering from coeliac disease, please visit your GP who will take a blood test to check for coeliac antibodies. If you test positive, your GP will guide you on your next steps.
For those living in Cumbria and Scotland, you will access your gluten free prescription goods slightly differently to the rest of the UK.
Receiving your prescription
For those living in the UK, except Scotland and Cumbria, you will receive your prescription via your GP.
In Scotland and Cumbria, patients can get gluten free food on prescription through a pharmacy-led scheme called the Gluten Free Food Service. Under a pharmacy-led supply scheme, you will receive your gluten free food on prescription direct from the pharmacy without the need to see your GP.
Please note that, for Warburtons Gluten Free products on prescription, we supply AAH and Phoenix who distribute across the UK (excluding Northern Ireland). Any order queries therefore need to go through your pharmacy directly to resolve.
Getting your pharmacy-led prescription
Once diagnosis of coeliac disease is confirmed at the hospital, you will go to your pharmacist for advice on coeliac disease, a gluten free diet, and setting up your gluten free prescription.
The same pharmacist will create your order and dispense your products during the month.
You will collect your order from your pharmacist. If it is fresh, then please check which day you should collect it, as these are delivered on certain times to ensure they are fresh. We deliver to pharmacies every Tuesday.
